MARDAN: Two officers of Pakistan’s armed forces lost their lives after a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training aircraft crashed during a routine training mission near Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The aircraft involved in the accident was a Super Mushshak trainer plane that was carrying out a scheduled training sortie when it went down in the vicinity of Mardan. Military authorities confirmed that both personnel onboard were martyred in the incident.

The deceased officers were identified as Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah, an instructor pilot from the Pakistan Air Force, and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi of the Pakistan Navy, who was undergoing flight training at the time of the crash.

Following the incident, the Pakistan military ordered a formal investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of the crash. Rescue and recovery teams were dispatched to the site shortly after the accident to conduct relief operations and secure the area.

National leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the two officers. The prime minister offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks. Similar messages of sympathy and tribute were issued by senior government and military officials.
