Shaheen Shah Afridi is a Pakistani professional cricketer who plays as a fast bowler for the Pakistan national cricket team. He made his international debut for Pakistan in April 2018 and his Test match debut for the national team in December 2018. In 2017, Afridi was noted as a 6-foot 6 inch 17-year-old Pakistani fast-bowling talent who can bowl at 90 mph, and also for his big-hitting ability. He considers himself an all-rounder and seeks to excel in bowling, batting and fielding. In August 2018, he was one of thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The following year, Afridi was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy (Cricketer of the Year).Afridi was named as the captain of the Lahore Qalandars for 2022 Pakistan Super League in late 2021.

After three months of medical rest Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen just returned to international cricket. and joined the green team in the T2o world cup in a match between Pakistan and England, conceding only seven runs in his two overs. During the first test against Srilanka Shaheen suffered  knee injury and doctors suggest him to take rest and leave bowling for some time. He was also not able to play ODI series against the Netherlands, the Asia Cup 2022, the England T20I series, and the tri-series in New Zealand.

In 2nd game gainst Afghanistan shaheen successfully prove his fitness and took two wickets in his first spell, including Rahmullah Gurbaz with a devastating yorker that forced him to seek medical attention. Riaz Afridi introduced Shaheen to hard-ball cricket at the FATA Under-16 trials in 2015, with Shaheen having played only tennis-ball cricket until then. Success at this level led to Shaheen being selected for the Under-16 tour of Australia in November 2015, where he played his part with four wickets in the 2–1 victories in the One-Day and Twenty20 series.

Shaheen’s style and speed of bowling acquired the attention of former international cricketers, including Tom Moody who said that the ball he delivered to Afghanistan’s opening batter, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, was an absolute ripper. Tom Moody a former Australian crikter who enjoyed 76 white ball matches for his country, also added that Shaheen’s bowling and speed will put the batters in fear in T2 World Cup. “He is deadly with the new ball,” he stated.
