Nothing will launch its debut smartphone on July 12th
One of the most awaited mobile phones Nothing Phone 1 will be finally launched on 12 July as confirmed by the company on Wednesday. Led by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei under UK brand will be open to the public in London via a super virtual event which will be live-streamed on the company’s official channels. It’s the company’s 1st cell phone which is transparent and all the internal devices can be seen with naked eyes with additional wireless charging options. Initially, a cell phone is only available on Flipkart and other famous online platforms. The smartphone will run on Nothing OS based on Android and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC.
In a press statement, the company said that the launch event is “ the real start of Nothing’s journey,” and calls this “an invitation to unlearn everything the industry has taught us.”This will be the second product from the Nothing brand. The first was the Nothing ear (1) TWS buds, which received mostly positive reviews.
The Nothing smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm chipset, though whether it will be the top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Gen 1+ is not clear. Some leaks claim that the phone (1) will run a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. The brand is stressing on design as something that will make the phone (1) stand out.
The company’s Ear (1) boasted competitive pricing at $99/€99/£99, while retaining premium features like ANC (active noise cancellation), placing them at the upper end of what would be considered ‘budget’ within their respective product category. If the same treatment were to be applied to the Phone (1), we’d expect it to hit the market closer to $/€/£500; a notion that the unnamed European dealer who suggested the 21 July launch date reinforced by claiming that Nothing’s debut phone will, indeed, cost around €500, at launch.
Features does the Nothing Phone (1)
Nothing hasn’t officially provided much information on the technical specs for its first smartphone. The only thing known for certain about what will be going on behind the display of the Phone 1 is that Nothing is partnering with Qualcomm as announced in a Tweet by Qualcomm president Enrico Salvatori in March. One rumor points to the phone having a 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED panel with flat edges along with a center-mounted punch-hole cutout. That sounds par for the course these days, but we’ll need to wait for more leaks and official disclosures to hear whether this is indeed the case.
According to some source, the Phone 1 will feature a 6.55-inch OLED display that can display up to 2400 x 1080p resolutions. Based on the renders we’ve seen so far, the smartphone will feature a singular “hole punch” front-facing camera in the top center of the display. There is no information regarding the specs of any of the cameras fitted in the device.
