‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ continues to soar high, beats ‘RRR’ UK record in just 17 days

Given that RRR was the highest-grossing Indian film of 2022, it’s only upwards and onwards for Lashari and the team. 

On Sunday, the achievement was announced on the film’s official social media. “Another day, another achievement! The Legend of Maula Jatt beats the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2022, RRR’s lifetime business in just 17 days in the UK! The Legend Of Maula Jatt is in cinemas now, book your tickets today!”

Directed by Rajamouli, the Jr NTR and Ram Charan-starrer stand at a worldwide collection of around INR12 million and was immensely loved especially in the west. While TLOMJ has a long way to get there, beating it in the UK is a huge achievement nevertheless. 

Earlier this week, the makers announced that the film had crossed Rs100 crores globally. Lashari, producer Ammara Hikmat and the star-studded cast of the hit film congratulated the audience for propelling 1979’s reboot on the run to becoming Pakistan’s most successful film to date.

The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed and Faris Shafi in pivotal roles. 

Malick took to Instagram and expressed her gratitude in a long note. “Maula Jatt just crossed 100 crores today. I can’t tell you how emotional I feel while I’m typing this as words can’t describe how proud and happy I feel for our country. I started working in the industry when I was 14 and Bol was my first project. Today, Maula Jatt made this big worldwide, loved by millions of people all over the world,” she penned.

“It’s a proud moment for Pakistanis all over the world as we’ve made 100 crores in 10 days and this is the best portrayal of our film industry. I’m so proud to be a part of it.”
