Tanveer Jamal Lagend (30 June 1960 –13 July 2022)
Tanveer Jamal was a Pakistani actor, director and producer. He has been prominent in Pakistan for the last 35 years through his brilliant acting. Tanveer Jamal was a senior Pakistani actor, director, and producer. He was born in 1960 in Karachi, Pakistan. After graduating from the National Academy of Performing Arts in Karachi, he began his modelling career in the fashion industry. As an actor, producer, and director, he made quite a name for himself in the Pakistan drama industry. As a model, he debuted in the Pakistani fashion industry in 1985. After that, he took a short break from work and went to Japan.

Jamal started his career before 1990 with director Kazim Pasha’s play ‘Janglos’. And he got fame from the first play. Jamal also acted in several other popular dramas of the 90s including PTV’s other popular dramas Jinnah to Quaid, Samjhauta, Babar, Antha, Janam Jalli and Jalte Suraj and made his unique mark in a short time. He made his name by directing and producing the first action-packed mega drama serial Godfather in a private production while this drama serial was recorded in Pakistan and Japan.
As an actor, Tanveer Jamal rendered invaluable services in the field of acting which further benefitted Pakistan’s entertainment industry. He was renowned for his brilliant acting prowess and a career spanning over three decades. Tanveer Jamal also received various accolades for his performance from PTV. After that, he took a short break from work and went to Japan. The actor came back to Pakistan in 1988 and worked in a number of TV dramas since then. Cause of Death
Jamal was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016 and battled the disease for several months before succumbing to it. Tanveer Jamal’s most recent role was in the drama Mere Apne, a critical and commercial hit. While shooting for this drama last year, he was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. He is survived by his Japanese wife and three children. The news about death of the veteran actor spread like a wildfire and the social media abuzz with condolence messages and tribute to Jamal Tanveer. The veteran actor starred in a number of dramas during his long career, including Teri Raza and Tasweer.
Fellow actor Faysal Quraishi said Jamal was in the dramas Khalish and Zakham with him. “When I was doing Zakham, around the end of 2020, that’s when I learnt more about him. He may have been older than me but we were good friends,” he said. “We had a cordial relationship for a long time. He wanted to make a film and we wanted to do it together but I had an issue with my dates and he ended up casting someone else,” he said. “But what a man. He was so full of life and just so much fun. You could sit and talk to him for hours. He was just like a friend with his juniors. At the end, all that is left are your conversations and these memories,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condoled the death of veteran actor and sympathized with the bereaved family. In their messages, both the president and prime minister termed death of the veteran actor great loss. They also prayed may Allah Almighty grant eternal peace and rest to the departed soul.
