Hamza Ali Abbasi is a Pakistani film and television actor and director. He is known for his roles as Afzal in the drama serial Pyarey Afzal, and as Salahuddin in the drama serial Mann MayalIn 2013, he appeared in two feature films, Main Hoon Shahid Afridi and Waar, for which he received the Best Star Debut Male and Best Supporting Actor awards at the 1st ARY Film Awards.

He started his career in 2006 as a theatre actor and appeared in several plays such as Bombay DreamsPhantom of the Opera, and Home is Where Your Clothes Are. He made his directorial debut with the feature film Mud House and the Golden Doll, which he describes as a simple story about simple people. His breakthrough was the movie Waar (2013). He was initially an assistant director to Bilal Lashari, before the later offered him a role in the movie, that he considers important for his future career.He voiced Baba Bandook, the main antagonist, and Vadero Pajero in the Unicorn Black produced animated series, Burka Avenger.

When Hamza Ali Abbasi announced that he would be stepping away from acting, it was big news. While many of his fans were unhappy by the decisions, others believed it was a publicity gimmick and that he would not take it seriously. Alif was Hamza’s last project and these days he’s busy with the promotion of his movie ‘The Legend Of Maula Jatt’. But he added that he would take on acting roles if the script did not go beyond the boundaries he had established for himself. On social media, though, whenever he makes a statement about any topic, he is frequently accused of exploiting religion for personal gain.

Hamza Ali Abbasi recently appeared in an interview where he responded to the accusations of using religion for his fame. In an interview, Maliha Rehman asked about Hamza’s feelings when the audience say he used an Islamic card to gain fame. Hamza gave a very cutely yet interesting reply that ” person should be used to negative comments and criticism if you choose to engage with people on social media. As long as you know you are right, you don’t need to feel hurt.
