To all the queens: Meesha Shafi drops surprise track to mark Women’s Day

The verse of the song has a synthetic yet organic touch to it, while the chorus is reminiscent of the 80s disco vibe. The video also hears Meesha rap and the song is a tribute to all women who strive to re-write their destiny with a will to not only survive, but thrive in a world adamant on letting them down.

The music video sees women, seemingly from various walks of life, dressed to nines and accepting themselves as they are for once, without fear of sounding narcissistic. There is a sense of empowerment in not allowing oneself to be defined by the world and Rajkumari is here to assure all women that taking one’s crown is synonymous to demanding what is rightfully theirs, as opposed to demanding anything extraordinary.

There is also a pregnant woman in the scene, who caresses her belly that is accessorised with beautiful jewellery – all women are drenched in magnificent jwellery by the way – but the picturization does not reduce her to being just a carrier, she realizes she holds the key to the future.

The eyes speak along with the words and there is a lot of word play at hand. There is also a ‘woman card’ at play but not in the derogatory sense. The card is trump and women are hear to call all the shots.
