Khaby Lame is now world’s most-followed content creator on TikTok

The 22-year-old from Senegal rose to fame by stitching and dueting other viral TikToks to simplify and fix viral “life hacks” that are actually too complicated to work. As of Thursday afternoon, Lame has a whopping following of 142.7 million people, reported The Verge.

The New York Times reported that the social media star lost in job as a factory worker in Italy during Covid times in March 2020. His consistency with posting videos on TikTok eventually found an audience, the newspaper reported, and his “wordless, expressive reaction clips” sparked an international following that goes beyond his early Italian-heavy clips.

“It’s my face and my expressions which make people laugh,” he told The New York Times in 2021.

Lame’s creative videos eventually ended up creating a fanbase for him that in return, brings him financial freedom as well. His achievement tops D’Amelio, along with her sister Dixie, who have taken the TikTok world by storm and used their fame to bank millions, including an estimated $27.5 million in 2021, according to Forbes.
